Mr.
Casimiro was named by Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown to the Mayoral
Advisory Board for International Affairs and Development of Latin
America and serves as Chairman of the Hispanic Advisory Board
of MetroBank. He is the former Vice Chairman, Networking, of the
Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce. He
is also the past Chairman of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Policy Committee (political action committee) whose goal was seeing
the City of Houston and the Houston/Harris County Sports Authority
fulfill its promise of allocating 30% of all its contract work
to minority construction businesses.
While residing in New York, he was a member of the Board of Directors
of the Washington Heights New York Lions Club and Public Relations
Committee Chairman for the Latin Chamber of Commerce of New York.
Jorge Luis Casimiro was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United
States in 1962, and received his United States Citizenship immediately
following his arrival. He attended Fordham University. He resides
in Houston, Texas, with his wife Sonia and five children.
